Rio Olympic Games 2016 begins on Friday, August 5 and ends on Sunday, August 21 Among so many gringos participating in the Rio-Olympics India sustains an important place. The Indian Olympic Association is going to send the nation's largest ever delegation  (formerly 120 athletes, but 2 failed doping test by NADA, but are given a week's time for 2nd test;  37 larger than their previous record of 83 athletes in 2012) in Summer Olympic history. 1. Abdul Kalam’s statue unveiled in Rameswaram i. Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Manohar Parrikar unveiled a life-size statue of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at Peikarumbu, his burial site in Rameswaram on the occasion of his first death anniversary.  ii. Kalam passed away on July 27 last year after he suffered a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture at IIM- Shillong in Meghalaya.  iii. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen "A. P. J."
