Paneer Butter Masala is a delicious and popular Indian dish made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a rich and creamy tomato-based gravy. Here's a recipe to help you make Paneer Butter Masala at home:
Ingredients:
- 200 grams paneer, cubed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 medium-sized onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder (for color, adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 cup fresh cream
- 1 tablespoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
1. Heat the butter and oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat.
2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
4. Add the pureed tomatoes to the pan and cook until the mixture thickens and the oil starts to separate from the sides.
5. Add the Kashmiri red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes to let the spices release their flavors.
6. Reduce the heat to low and add the fresh cream. Stir well to incorporate it into the gravy.
7. Add the cubed paneer to the gravy and gently mix it, ensuring that the paneer is coated with the sauce. Be careful not to break the paneer cubes.
8. Crush the kasuri methi between your palms and add it to the pan. Mix well.
9. Season with salt according to your taste and simmer the paneer butter masala for 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Your Paneer Butter Masala is now ready to be served. It pairs well with naan, roti, or rice. Enjoy!
