Brushing your teeth after you wake up in morning is not ideal.
When Doctors say you should brush twice a day they mean that you should brush after your breakfast and dinner.
After you eat a meal or snack that contains sugar, the bacteria in plaque produce acids that attack tooth enamel. When you brush your teeth, you help remove food and plaque - a sticky white film that forms on your teeth and contains bacteria.
So if you don't brush your teeth after dinner then bacteria destroy your teeth all night (8 hours) and if you don't brush your teeth after breakfast then again they will again desintegrate your teeth all day.
If you brush your teeth after breakfast your mouth will be fresh till lunch and brushing your teeth after dinner will keep your mouth fresh all night and you don't even have to brush teeth after waking up in the morning till breakfast. Your teeth can afford time between lunch & dinner without brushing.
